Governing Body

As a Local Authority Maintained Nursery School, we have a governing body in the same way that all other schools do.

Our governers come from various backgrounds, including staff members, parents and members of the local community with an interest in early years education. We are fortunate to have several governors from a teaching background which ensures that children's educational experiences are central to the work of the governing body. We also have governors with specific expertise in finance, community engagement and health and safety.

The governing body meet every half term to discuss and make decisions on matters such as finance, policies, staffing, resources, quality and standards and many other issues affecting the running of the Centre. Since the summer term 2017 the governors have decided that every meeting will involve the full governing body. This decision has removed the need for separate committee meetings, ensuring that information is shared more effectively across the wholegoverning body and providing coherent strategic oversight of the Centre.

We are legally required to make public details of the appointment, terms of office, attendance and pecuniary interests of all members of our Governing Body from the previous year. This information can be found in the document below in relation to the academic year 2020-21.

If you would like to contact a member of the governing body, please do so using the Boundstone contact details.

Meet our Governors

Aedan Kerney - Chair of Governors

I have enjoyed being associated with this special place as a governor for over 10 years. I taught in Lancing and Sompting for forty-one years and in my retirement still continue to share my love of music, mainly in preparing for local performances.

I believe that every child and adult has a unique contribution to make to life as they develop their learning.

Amanda Harkey - Vice-Chair of Governors

I joined the Governing Body in 2017 as an Associate Governor and became a full governor in summer term 2018 after enjoying a year when the whole Centre celebrated Ofsted awarding us an Outstanding judgement.

I am a qualified teacher and have previously worked for the Local Authority as the General Advisor for Early Years. Most recently I was the Head Teacher of an Infant School and now work as an Early Years consultant providing training and support to schools locally and internationally. I look forward to using my past experiences to support the amazing work of Boundstone Nursery School.

Ruth Campbell - Executive Head Teacher

I have worked as a teacher, Deputy and Headteacher at Chichester Nursery School for 12 years and am excited to now be taking on the role of Executive Head across three Maintained Nursery Schools.

I have been teaching for 15 years, working in Primary Schools and then at Chichester Nursery School since 2008.  I completed my NPQH qualification (National Professional Qualification of Headteachers) in 2018.

Outside of Nursery I enjoy singing at my church and eating out!

Kate Wollaston - Head of School

I was thrilled to be appointed as the Inclusion Manager/SENCo (Special Educatonal Needs Co-ordinator) for Boundstone Nursery School, Day Care and Children & Family Centre in 2014. Prior to that I had been an Advisory Teacher for West Sussex promoting inclusive practice across the county and supporting children with SEND in both the maintained and the private sectors.

Back in the dark ages, I taught principally in the Early Years Foundation Stage but also across the Primary age phase within mainstream schools.

I am excited to bring my experience and love of creative learning to the Head of School role at Boundstone and I look forward to continuing supporting and working with our children and families.

Glynis Reid - LA Governor

It is a privilege to be part of the governing body at Boundstone. I am retired after 35 years of teaching at Boundstone Community College and the Academy. Whilst there I had a variety of roles including Assistant Head of Sixth Form and in the later years I was the SENCo. Both my children attended BCC and they are now teachers!

Having spent my entire working life in Lancing and Sompting I am so pleased to be continuing my association with the community. Boundstone is a really special place and as governors we are tasked to ensure that it serves the community and maintains the very highest standards.

Nicky Falvey - Parent Governor

I am fortunate to have previously been a member of staff at Boundstone for over 6 years as part of the Children and Family Centre.  I live in Lancing, and my daughters have both attended Boundstone Day Care and Nursery. I care about the well-being of the local children and enjoy making a positive contribution to the Nursery School and wider community.

Katie Connors - Co-opted Governor

My name is Katie Connors; I am currently a Further Education teacher with a focus in early years, having gained occupational competence and relevant qualifications through managing an early years setting.

I have lived in the local area for several years and hope through my governor role to support and find out more about the local community.

Nicola Nield - Staff Governor

I am fortunate to have been a member of the Boundstone Team working with an amazing body of staff for over 9 years.  My current role is as a Nursery Nurse and key carer attached to our SSC in the Nursery school.

I am passionate about Boundstone and would like to see the Nursery continue to grow whilst supporting the local children and families in the way that we have always done so.  Families tell us that we go that extra mile to support them and I would like to see this continue.
